Waterproject Lotus Children’s Centre
Written by Steve Ujvarosy

Lotus provides shelter and education for children from 0 to 16 years. The care for 0 to 6 year olds has currently the highest priority within the organisation. In increasing numbers abandoned children are being brought to the centre. Housing and availability of fresh water are two main and basic necessities in life.

At the end 2005 we drilled a well for the Lotus Center as a WCS project with 6 Rotaryclubs from district 2660, Osaka, Japan. Instead of buying water from trucks Lotus uses that money to educate and care for their kids. These children now have access to a reliable source of clean water

Ger District Water Tanks
Written by Roel Bazuin

Currently some 20.000 people from the countryside are coming to UB. These ‘Rural immigrants’ live in the outskirts of the town, some of them having no more than a small wooden house. In vast area’s there is no electricity, roads are bad and great distances have to be travelled for water and schooling for children. The biggest and the most pressing issue in several Ger districts is the absence of access to clean water. Our club has placed three enclosed 5-ton water tanks in locations where they are much needed. This is one of three big projects that are being generously funded by our Japanese friends. Downloads (acrobat PDF): - Watertank location report (with pictures)
